Question

Playhead freezes until play has stopped.

I've been using PP for years and opened a new project today, with a simple image and then a voiceover.  However as the sequence played, the playhead was completely stationary until I pressed stop.  So I couldn't tell where I was at any time until I stopped!

 

Is there some new setting for this, as I do keep PP up to date, but I can't find anything about it, and it's really very annoying indeed!

    That's annoying! It seems to be working OK here Dave. I was just playing with Trim Mode from one of Ann's posts, and I hated I couldn't see the playhead moving. 

     

    Try restoring your preferneces to default. The way I do it is I navigate to this folder:
    %UserProfile%\Documents\Adobe\Premiere Pro

    And then I rename the folder with the highest number, for instance 24.0 to 24.0x

    Start PP. If that works, then it was something with your prefs, if not, you can delete the newly created folder and set back to the original prefs by renaming it to it's original name. You can also go back to your original prefs temporarily to perhaps get screen shots of the prefs screen, so you can reset quickly starting with the new prefs.

    I tried that and no luck, and then tried closing down panels one at a time.

    I use a 3 screen system, and have different panels on each screen for a very efficient layout.

    However I now see that (and this is new, wasn't happening before), If I have a panel on screen 2 or 3 that shows either the audio mixed or effect controls, which have real time updates, the playhead doesn't work.  If I close them, it does.  If I put them in the same window on screen 1, it does...

     

    So basically Adobe PP is no longer supporting good "pro-user sophisticated set-ups"?

     

    Sorry, but it's very frustrating, a lot of backward steps in recent times...

    I only have two screens, but I just put Effects controls and audio track mixer on screen 2 and all is well.

    Maybe it's the custom layout for got some corruption, etc... maybe try building that again?
