Playhead occasionally jumps to the wrong position after a cut

Description

In Adobe Premiere Pro, the playhead occasionally and randomly jumps to a different position on the timeline after making a cut, instead of staying at the point where the cut was made. This issue occurs rarely and unpredictably. Most of the time, cutting works as expected without any problems.

Expected Behavior:
The playhead should remain at the position where the cut is made.

Actual Behavior:
Occasionally, the playhead jumps to a random position on the timeline after a cut.

Premiere Version: 25.1.0 (Build 73)

My Hardware:

  • CPU: Intel Core i5 12400
  • Memory: 32GB DDR4
  • GPU: GeForce RTX3060Ti

@Valda_Lewis @The Great Walt just a heads up we have a fix currently in the Beta version of Premiere Pro that fixes this. It should be in the next release of Premiere Pro.

Same problem here. My project does not use text to speech. In my case the problem seems to occur when I enable the nested sequences when making a cut with "Rippel Delete Head Frame" while timeline is scrolling. Very weird!

Hotkeys Used:
R = Add Edit to All Tracks
Q = Rippel Delete Head Frame

I found I still had a search word in the transcript box and it jumped to the next instance when I made an edit. So make sure you have'nt done that!

@davidesvibe,

Does your project include the speech to text/transcript function? The Search function has been none to create some symptoms similar to this.
