Playhead doesn't even move anymore, playback is getting worse and worse, adding captions causes a 5-15 sec delay on start/stop timeline play, None of this was ever an issue until recently, what the heck is going on?

I've done the following:

Cleared media cache
Reset preferences
Closed Audio Mixer, Effect Controls, and other windows
Opened and started a new project
Updated GPU drivers
Tried a newer version of Premiere
Checked RAID health (all is good)

I'm still having issues; it's been 2 weeks, and it's getting pretty irritating, my workflow is slowing to a crawl and it's effecting my deadlines. Please anyone. Help.

UPDATE*

Finally fixed the issue.

Uninstalled Adobe Apps & Creative Cloud Fully

I restored the RTX card to its default settings

Installed Adobe Apps Back

Reinstalled Studio Drivers & Restarted.

And it's working normally now.

I did a complete uninstall/Reinstall of adobe app and Creative Cloud, and it’s still borked. Playhead doesn’t move at all, unless panel is undocked. This is really annoying.

What version of PR are you running? What OS?

Thanks for reporting your troubleshooting steps.

Create a new test project using a single clip on an internal (non-raid) drive, and drag it to the new icon (to create a matching sequence). Is playback normal?

Windows 11
RTX 3090
AMD Ryzen 9 3900X
64GB RAM
Editing off a RAID array

This issue occurs across all versions of Premiere (2024, 2025, and 2026).
