Please help! Any adjustments I make in Premiere revert the clip to original and remove all edits.

I've reinstalled the program and updated and this has not fixed the issue. Any adjustment I make to the clip, scale, opacity, copy & paste attributes, anything, removes all edits and effects from clip and reverts back to original unedited version. I've never had this issue, how do I fix this? Thank you!
