Question

Poor Audio quality in timeline and export

Hi all! So, I'm new to Premiere so forgive me if this is an easy fix, but I've looked around and tried all the potential solutions I could find and nothing seems to be working.

I'm trying to overlay music I created in Logic over the videos in my project. In the Source window, the music sounds fine, but in the Timeline it is crackly and distorted, almost like it's too hot and distorting digitally. ON TOP OF THAT, when I export, the music is muffled, like it's a low bitrate mp3 with an EQ filter on it (different bad sound from the timeline window)

I'm not sure if these 2 issues are related because they sound different. I could live with the poor quality in the timeline of the end result was correct but obviously it would be better if this wasnt the case across the board.

I am using a 2017 MacBook Pro running OS 10.13.6. Heres what I've tried so far:

- I have not applied any plugins to the track but I double checked and there are none on either the specific audio track or on the master track.

- I tried different export media options. Like quicktime with uncompressed audio.

- I tried deleting the entire media cache.

- I tried exporting the original music from Logic at both 44.1k and 48k

- I tried changing the framerate of the Premiere project (not every option, but it was set at 29.95 drop frame, and I tried 29.95 non-drop and 30)

- I tried creating a new project and copying the timeline to that.

None of these things has had any effect, and those were the common solutions I seemed to find on the interne . Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Try resetting the preferences:

If that doesn't work, try resetting the Workspaces:
Reset a workspace
Reset the current workspace to return to its original, saved layout of panels.
1. Do one of the following:
• Click the Workspace menu icon and select Reset to Saved Layout.
• Choose Window > Workspace > Reset to Saved Layout.

Well, I seem to have fixed it before I saw your response... I retried making a new project, except this time, instead of copying and pasting the the source material and timeline from the 1st project, I started off by reimporting the music from the hard drive. Once i did that, i moved it to the timeline and checked the quality and found that it sounded good.

Then I copied and pasted the video and audio from.the first project and THIS TIME, it all sounded fine. A quick export test snippet also sounds good. exporting the full video now but I think this takes care of it for now at least. Thanks for your help!

This worked like a charm for me! I've been having this issue for weeks on my iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014). Thanks for posting!

Oh yeah, I also tried the audio hardware preferences, and they are set to CoreAudio and the computer's built in input and output
