Poor sound quality when in/sent from premier but OK at source

I'm attaching 2 images, This audio was recorded using premiere's voice over feature and sounded terrible once finished. But the raw file in the documents sounds fine... until it's put back in premiere.

It's not merely a playback issue either, below is the file open in audition. First, the raw audio file from the documents opened in Audition. Then the same file sent from Premiere Pro in Audition. It muddles the top end freaquencies somehow (10k-100k highlighted in image 2).

Please advise. It's like it's going through some sorrt of compression as it's imported into premiere. I'm on 24.1.0 (Build 85)
