Question

Position key frame values only working one way: The coord appear to change as clip progresses

hi guys 🙂

am fairly new to using premier pro and i am using key frames to move the position of a clip from the centre, to the far right and then to the far left in line with an animation over the top.

The effect control does exactly what i want when going to the right and then when i insert the next key frame for the clip to move to the extreme left it doesn't budge. I can't figure out where i am going wrong because the clips coordinate positions are changing in time with the key frame values.

I've added images that hopefully will show this problem

any help would be massively appreciated 🙂

thanks very much.

make sure you are selecting the right clip on the timeline for which

you are keyframing, otherwise you will end up keyframing other

selected clips. for simple position keyframing, do it from Motion,

why use a transform effect? We mainly use it for additional controls

over other same property keyframes when we have complex animation.

I can't see Pic 1, but in Pic 2, it looks like the Anchor Point under the Motion settings has been adjusted. Have you also made changes to Motion > Position (at the top of the Effect Controls panel) as well as the Transform effect? Conflicting values between these settings could be causing the issue.

Hi @PaulMurphy

thanks for helping me - I used the transform to see if it could do what i was after becasue the motion control worked for moving the clip to the far right but then would remain there.

So i tried to use transform to do the move of the clip to other side (left). It didn't work unfortunatly but i hope that makes sense, i'll have a look at the anchor point settings i may have accidently clicked them.

Sorry for the issue. May we have more info about your system and media? We need that to try to reproduce your error.

Thanks,

Kevin

32 bit OS? Which version of Premiere Pro are you using? Your system is not meeting our requirements. Let us know.

Thanks,
Kevin
