Prelude and Kyno alternatives

Hi,

I am looking for a program that will make sorting of alot of video files easier. (and some photos). I am looking for a program that can do the following:

  • Fast thumbnail generating of videos and photos
  • Drilldown function
  • Ability to create subclips
  • Bulk changing of titles
  • Good search options for big libraries.

I tried Kyno and liked it alot, but there were three big issues that made it unusable to me.

The first thing was that 1x1 previews was generated way to slow. Only 1-2 thumbnails each second (ssd drive). Trying to sort hundreds of video files it really took a long time for them to load. There is no way to generate all previews at once. It only loads the previews thats shows on your screen, that means you have to sit there and scroll through the files while the thumbnails are beeing created. If the program crashed all of them have to be reloaded.

I really liked the ability to create subclips, but the subclips was not searchable so that was really too bad.

When adding keywords and ratings to the clips they were only saved in the program and not in the metadata of the file. (big isse when multiple users are accessing the library, or if you want to change program down the line)

Thanks

You mention Prelude in the title, but nothing about it in the body of your post. Is there a reason Prelude isn't working for you? One of my favorite things about Prelude is how it makes marker-based subclips. It's way faster than doing it in Premiere, and it's a very unique workflow that I use a lot.
