Question

Premere Pro 2023 deleting media on it's own.

Sorry if I'm posting this on the wrong place, I've never been on this forum before, but Premiere Pro is driving me crazy, and I still have not found a solution for the following problem:

Premiere Pro seems to flee with some media on it's own will. While I'm editing, some of my media just disappears and gets offline. When I look for it on my disk, it's gone. When I try to paste the same clip from my camera card on the folder it should be (where all the other clips that i'm using on the project are), it says that there's already a file with that name in that folder. So i need to rename my clip, and relink it inside Premiere Pro.

It doesn't look like a problem with cache, because the files I'm working on, are the plate files, that came right off the camera card.

I've no clue why this happens. I haven't noticed any common frequency to be related to this problem, it happens every now and then on it's own will.

This doesn't happen with any other software installed on my computer. Only with Premiere Pro, when running.

I've attached a screenshot of the folder which is enabled to see hidden files (to show that no hidden files are there). The file C0336-B.MP4 is the file I renamed to be able to copy the file to the folder and keep working.

If someone had a similar problem, please help me.

Thanks in advance for your attention.

Specs

Premiere Pro Version: 23.4.0 (Build 56)
Operating System: Mac OS Ventura 13.0 22A380 (Hackintosh, but whatever)

Hello @negronnie,

I read your message.

Something tells me that it actually is related to not using supported hardware. You may want to provide a sample project exhibiting this behavior to double-check. Place it to shared storage and PM me the URL. I'll give it to the staff. Good luck.

Thanks,
Kevin

I'm not sure what a 'plate' file is but did you delete the cache? I'm not sure why you say what you did about that, but do delete the cache. Hold down shift as you start PP and check the appropriate box.

Somehow it seems like it still on the folder, but it isn't.

I've checked the folder with the "see hidden files" option activated.

I've also tryed to find the file via terminal, without success.

Still having the same problem.

So the computer says the file is still there ... that sounds like it got "hidden" in the computer system's setup for hiding files somehow. Have you checked that?
