Premier CS5: Surely it’s illegal?

I may be rather late to the party, but I've just tried to sign in to Premier CS5 to do some editing, to be met with a message telling me that I now have to subscribe, and then the software vanished. I might be wrong, but is it asking me for £30 per month for three months, and then £60 per month to use the software which I have already paid for and had on my computer for many years? How can this possibly be legal? I have no money. I have a lot of edited projects which I cannot lose access to. I'd be grateful for any thoughts

Yes, sorry. However, CS5 is over 14 years old. It's pretty ancient in computer years. I think you can get a single-app subscription for somewhat less $.

    I am sorry to tell you this, but you will no longer be able to activate CS5 at all. You see, Adobe has permanently shut down all of the activation servers for all of its legacy programs a few years ago. As a result, you're stuck with subscribing to Creative Cloud and downloading a version of Premiere Pro that may be too new to be compatible at all with your hardware.

      I can't believe it. I have so many half finished projects, and also finished ones that I may need to access in the future.

       

      How could they do this to us? It's beyond belief. I never thought they would be able to get to my PC when I already had bought the program.
