Premier Pro 2017 won't let me open a project

Hi!

During editing my hard drive ejected itself, it came up with a "disc not ejected properly" message.

Premier stopped working so I closed it.

When I plugged my hard drive back in it still has the files but won't let me open them. It says "An unknown error occurred while opening the project."

What do I do?

    In the spirit of reorganizing the activity so that the situation does not repeat, you should only use internal drives for an edit system.  Use removable and networked drives only for backup and archiving.

    Hi elizabethh79054906,

    I am sorry for the issue with the project. Please create a new project, import the old project file(.prproj) into new project & check.

    Thank you fir your suggestion! Sadly we've tried that and it didn't work. Any other suggestions?

    Please check if there are any Auto-save files which are working as the project file might be corrupted.
