Premier pro 2023 freezes and then Mac restarts

No rhyme or reason. I dont know enough about the program other than what I am trying to do is like super basic. 1 layer of iphone footage 25 secs, a couple text layers and few transitions.

I will attempt to move a layer, or add something to the timeline and the program just freezes. I can move my mouse, but it cant click on anything or do anything. It sits idel for about 3 min then the whole machine just restarts. Any idea on what this could be?

I have reinstalled PP multiple times and even tried a couple of earlier versions.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Update:

Had it sent in to Apple - Not even sure what they did. Looked for notes on what they repaired and it just says repair complete.

My best guess is what the apple store dudes told me. They were stumped because all the diagnostics came back normal but concluded it was the entire board malfunctioning or going to pot. So they decide to send it in. Works great now so far.

I'm having the same issue and tried all the same things on a 2023 m2 MacBook Pro.

Definifitly bad.

I dont know how to read these things but this is the crash report it generated ( see below)

. Its very long! Not entirely sure what to do about this. I cant work on it as it literally is burning time each time I open it up. I get about 20-40 very laggy clicks in and them it just freezes for 2 min and restarts. Ugh.

Thanks for the tip!

just tried it, checked all the boxes, reopened my project. 10 clicks in it froze and restarted.
the performance is quite bad as well. Very laggy, takes forever to move things aroun or virtually do anything. It can't be this bad on this machine can it? I don't know how anybody could actually accomplish anything like this.

if it's a hardware problem, would I just take to Apple? I'm about to through hands up ha!

Have you tried resetting Premiere preferences? When you start it, hold Cmd+Opt+Shift
