Premier Pro CC2017 Crashes browsing for imports

Hello!  I'm having trouble with Premier Pro CC2017 crashing when browsing to import media.  It isn't consistent.  Sometimes I can go clean out the Media cache files, open Premier back up and browse for imports and import just fine.  Other times, I do the same thing begin to browse and it crashes.  I'm using premier completely locally; however, I do have network drives and one drive mapping on my computer.  I considered whether this might be the issue even though I'm not accessing them, but I hate to disconnect everything to test.  I've also disabled virus protection.   If the problem persists after deleting the cache files, a reboot will normally let me work for awhile.  I can also import successfully, work for awhile, then go to import again and it will crash at that point.  Anyone have any other ideas? TIA.

I am able to drag and drop from my file explorer window to the media browser, so the problem seems to be solely related to the browsing from import.

Hi Brocksdad,

Thanks for the screenshots.

1. What is the location of the Media?

2. Have you tried to change the location of Media to a different drive & try browsing?

3. If the issue persists, just for a test, Create a new user account in the Operating system, Login to it & try browsing in Media Browser.

Please let us know the status.

Thanks,

I hate to disconnect everything to test.

If it were me, I would do it.  Media Browser will "see" all drives on the system, whether or not you actually navigate to them.

Hi Brocksdad,

It might be an issue with drives or with permission.

1. Is there any error message after the crash?

2. In event viewer > Appication>Windows Logs > check for any error messages related to Premiere Pro.

FAQ: How do I capture and post a screen shot or video?

Thanks,

Vidya Sagar
