Premier Pro non-resposive

Hello!

So I have been edited a video for a short time and all the suddenly when I am working ont he project. It starts to freeze for about 20 seconds and then un-freezes. During the freeze period I can't do anything. Can't open or close and windows on my computer. Can't pause the video in premier pro. (The video runs smoothly without any playback issues should be mentions during the freezeing).

I have turned off the overclocking on my CPU to see if it fixed it. I have resetted the prefrences to see if it would make any difference. I have restarted both the program and my computer several times. I have updated my GPU driver to make sure it is in good condition. I had taskmanager up to see if it was a bottleneck in the system but the CPU was at about 40% and the GPU at 30% and memory very low when the freezeing in premier pro happened. I am pretty sure it is not a hardware issue because I could edit perfecly a week ago without any problems.

If anyone has any clue on either what the problem may be or how to fix it. Please comment it.

Best Regards,

Alex

For the people wondering. I saw on reddit that there is a bug around the voice input feature in Premier Pro. They said that if you toggled it off or default, it would solve the playback issue which it did.

Thanks for all the help still.

I would connect the SSD through a USB 3 instead of USB 2.

I suspect most likely the bottlenck is happening there, and you will experience some issues the bigger your project grows.

Once you connect the SSD through a USB 3, better to move the caches there as well

Hello Christan.

I connected the SSD directly to my computer via a 3.0 USB port instead and moved my cache files files to the discs to. (I also deleted the old ones on the other SSD.)

It helped a bit, it happens less often but it still does. Freezes my entire computer for about 1 min at a time. It just might be something with the specific project. I can still edit it just takes a lot more time because I have to sit and wait when it freezes. It might still just be that something in the file has become corrupt or something but I guess I'll find that out once I start a new project.

Is there anything else I can do to make adobe less freezy?

And thanks for the help still.

Best regards,

Alex

Try creating a new project and import the old one into it.

Or try proxies:

What are the complete computer specs, including hard drives (how many, what kind, what is on each, what capacity, and how full)?

If NVIDIA graphics, make sure to use the latest Studio Driver from NVIDIA (NOT the Game Driver).

Hello Peru Bob.

My computer specs are as follows:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core 3.60 GHz

Ram: 48 GB (I've set it so adobe can have 40 GB in the prefrences)

Operating system: 64 bit Windows 10 (Version 21H1)

I have two hard drives. The one that adobe uses is 930 GB in total and has 170 GB left. It is the one that comes with the computer. I also have a bigger 3.6 T hard drive that I use but I do not have any adobe affiliated stuff there other than footage, pictures and audio files. It has 1.8 T free space. The first one is a SSD and the latter one is also a SSD but it is connected to the computer via a USB 2.0 port on one of my monitors. The name of the smaller one is KINGSTON SA2000M81000G and the big one is named Seagate Expanstion SCSI Disk Device.

I updated the studio drive as well accordingly to my graphics card and it didn't change much. I started to edit and just some few minutes later the same problem occured.

Hope I gave you enough info.

Best regards,

Alex

I forgot to mention that I have a Nvidia Geforce 2080 SUPER graphics card.
