you should be able to revert to premiere 2019.  You have the option to keep earlier versions when you do an update.  I've got 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 on my macbook pro.  Unfortunately adobe will not allow you to reinstall 2017 or 2018 but 2019 is still available.    How old is your macbook pro?  I've got a 2012 machine .  It has a few issues with 2020...  You might want to update to high sierra.  that's what I've got running.

You might also want to tell us your source properties and your sequence settings.

It's doing it on 2019 (but super fast playhead) also..... I have Macbook 2018 and I have reset all preferences both holding alt and shift alt when opening. I updated sierra also and nothing.
