Premiere 2018 Woes
Hello all,
Like many of the community I upgraded to 2018 a few weeks ago and have encountered no end of problems. It regularly crashes, projects get to a certain size and begin throwing errors, previews and renders become unlinked and lost, probably the worst is that the interface has become extremely laggy and it often takes several seconds to perform an edit. It is an awful piece of editing software that seems to be bloated with gimmicks at the cost of professional use-ability.
Admittedly I'm not on a high end system, but I'm working on an iMac with an i7 and 32GB RAM and the AMD R9 so it's not terrible either. I've been an editor for almost 20 years, working on PP for the last two, and I appreciate that as edit systems progress hardware becomes outdated. But this usually happens gradually and in the case of 2018 it's as if I'm working on a 20 year old system.
Frustratingly 2017 worked great and I recently renewed my subscription for a year, but I started a large documentary project in PP2018 and now I'm stuck. Anecdotally I've heard this many times over from fellow editors and on forums but Adobe don't seem to be responding.
Can any of the mods here give any inclination as to when a bug fix update might be forthcoming before I and others like me finally give up and return to the Avid fold?
Thanks,
Chris
