Premiere 2025 Baffling New Layouts

I'll keep it brief -

Firstly - Navigating the Program Monitor when zoomed in used to be simple - using the scroll boxes at the edges of the Monitor to go left/right up/down. Now however you have to go to Tools, select the hand icon, and then drag the image around, which often drags around the assets as well, messing up your work. So the question is - there was a quick way to move around the images on screen and now it takes longer and is annoying. So why implement this?

Secondly - The Essential Graphics tabs. It used to be simple (if take an age due to the inherent buggyness of EG) to select a EG  and then edit an EG as the two tabs opened automatically. Now you have to select a separate tab called Properties. There's extra steps in the chain now. Again - WHY?

I look forward to finding more nuggets like this. I've used Premiere since 2003, using Premiere these days is like being in a long term relationship with someone who doesn't care anymore and just wants to show off new gimmicks.

Second thing first ... the use of a "context aware" Properties panel has been brought into Premiere from other apps, like apparently Illustrator and whatnot. Where it is very popular.

Why? One panel has the controls for anything you're working on at the moment. You don't have to change to this panel or that panel, just select something, the Properties panel has all the controls.

So once you adapt to setting up workspaces with the Properties panel as a main part, it's fast. You may not need so many workspaces.

I've got nine custom workspaces I use. But ... after finally getting a better feel for the Properties, I may end up needing really only maybe four.

Progam Monitor ... hit H on the keyboard, click/drag to reposistion things on-screen. Then back to the V key for selecting things as normal.

Don't waste time clicking somewhere for the "Hand" tool.

Everyone's mileage always varies ...
