Question

Premiere and Encoder both crashing, can't figure this out.

System specs:

Late 2013 15" MacBook Pro Retina

2.3 gHz i7

16GB DDR3-1600 RAM

NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2GB VRAM GPU

Intel Iris Pro 1.5 GB VRAM Integrated GPU

500GB HDD

Running the latest updates to Premiere and Encoder, and on Mojave 10.14.4.

This is a longer video at around half an hour. No crazy codecs or anything, just Sony LOG footage. Managed to lay everything out in the timeline without crashes, but now that I've tried to export it, the project file is apparently falling apart. I've only had one successful render which resulted in a jittery mess (visual glitches). All other renders result in failed renders, Encoder crashing, or Premiere crashing. I can't even scrub through the timeline without Premiere shutting down.

Any ideas? I've already tried clearing the media cache. I did not update Premiere or the OS during the editing process. This has all been done on the latest updates.

Thanks for any help or advice you can give, this video is now two days overdue and I'm starting to sweat. Never had these kinds of issues with Premiere before.

    Yessir, cleared that stuff out.

I originally was using a purchased LUT, but suspecting that to be the cause, I deleted it and used a stock LUT in Premiere. That worked and I got the only finished render I've been able to get. I didn't use the sliders at all for HWSB.

Transitions include constant gain cross-fades, cross dissolves, and I laid a basic mastering effect down over all the audio.

Where did that LUT come from, and where had you parked it on disc?

    Hi MatthewKimble00,

Sorry to hear this. Have you tried switching the Renderer to Mercury Playback Engine Software Only (FAQ: How to change the Video Renderer in Premiere Pro? ) and checked if it's working properly. Also, are you getting any error message when the application is crashing? You may check for any crash logs (FAQ: Where do I find Premiere Pro crash logs on Windows or Mac? ) saved on your system for these crashes and share it with us.

    Thanks,

    Sumeet

    Hey Sumeet!

Thanks for the reply, I'm about 2 hours from being near that laptop again. I'll reach out with the crash log and other requested info when I get home. Thank you!

Might want to consider proxies as your machine is not very powerfull.

I'd probably feel that way if my iMac didn't crash the same project. I moved it over and it's the same result. That has 32GB RAM, a 3.5 gHz i7, and a 4GB GPU.

They creating a new project file, and from Media Browser import the old project file assets.
