Question

Premiere captions sucks

I just need to get it off my chest that Premiere is growing more and more out of touch. I can't believe Adobe has the audacity to put Red, Arri and so on presets under Legacy (?) yet its features for today's editing style are so mediocre chiefly the captions (Auto Reframe also sucks but I understand they're trying to sell AfterEffects). Are these people even watching trending videos? Has any of them looked at CapCut or Davinci? Captions is a whole circus in Premiere. The fact that I can't have multiple subtitle tracks active at the same time, I can't apply a style to seperate text clips to have different styles for different speakers. When you save a preset it doesn't preserve the format settings (all caps italic etc.) Speaker tagging hardly works. The captions are generated by number of characters not number of words? Who needs that? There's no follow/highlight spoken word option. The funny thing is it could do that because in the transcribe panel you can clearly see it follows words.  I can't even adjust the size of the subtitle track in the timeline so I can at least manually select multiple text clips? What a joke!

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear that your experience with Premiere Pro captions hasn't been the best. You can share your thoughts and create a feature request in the Ideas section of the Premiere Pro community, where other users can show their support by upvoting your post. If you're looking to add different styles to your captions, I encourage you to save your Style files on your system and add them to your Project panel. By converting them to graphics (Graphics and Titles > Upgrade Captions to Graphics) and dropping the style presets from the project panel, you'll be able to create separate tracks for your captions, and use different style options. If you're having trouble with any bugs with the app, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'm here to help and would be more than happy to look into it for you.

Thanks,

Ishan
