Premiere crashing when importing anything

The problem first started randomly when I changed the volume of some audio files that i was using for a project. I troubleshooted and could not find a solution so I reinstalled windows and wiped my computer clean but that still did not work. I figured out that i was able to set Premiere to use my gpu in display setting and that worked until I tried to change the volume of the audio again and then it stopped allowing me to import files without freezing and then crashing after. Been looking online and I can't seem to find a solution, can anyone help? https://gyazo.com/5106342b6bd7d52fcba86f6ec83ddd67 This is a video of what happens when i try to import something.

hi there,

so you re-installed windows and Premiere and still getting this error?

From the video you showed, it looks like your project does have content, so you were able to import, yes?

Could it be this file you are trying to import is corrupt and causing the issue?

I was going to suggest holding down Shift-Alt (Windows) or Shift-Option (Mac OS) while the application is starting to clear preferences and plug-in cache. But if you re-installed everything, not sure if it would help?

best,

I saved the files on a external USB so I could continue it when i was done and I still had the same problem so I also thought it was the file but it was not because I created another file and tried to import something there and nothing. I was able to get it working by making it specfically use my GPU in windows settings but right when i changed the volume again it stopped working. Then I nested them and it was working until I imported another file after 1 and then it crashed again. Clearing prefrences did not work either so im not sure what the problem is but thank you for the help.

hmm. Could it be the USB drive maybe? Or the original file is corrupt and since you saved it, you are using that same file?

What happens if you clear preferences by holding down alt and shift when restarting, and go to Edit>Preferences>Media Cache and Click button next to "Remove Media Cache Files" then select "Delete All....."

then start your project with a brand new file and then try loading in these files that are giving you issues.

Another problem could be your computer? Premiere does need a pretty powerful computer.

And also save often... I have to say that Premiere has crashed on my pretty much every single day lately!

Sorry for your troubles.
