Premiere Deletes Clip in front of Playhead even when not selected

Does anyone alse have this stupid issue with Pr lately (had this for around a year since an update and never did anything about it). I scrub the timeline to a clip I want, click cut, select the segment to the left of the playhead so it's highlighted, then when I go to press 'delete' Pr automatically selects the segment of the clip to the right - which is in front of the playhead - without me even clicking anything.

I want to delete the section to the left, not the right.

The amount of time I'm wasting from Pr deleting sections of a clip I don't want deleted is driving me insane. Why is this happening? It's so annoying!

I'm wondering if Selection Follows Playhead is turned on in the Menu system?

Yeah it was that, but never used to happen before even when selection follows playhead was turned on.

I like that setting as I can highlight/edit clips I need as I'm scrubbing through without clicking the clip, however, now with this issue I've turned it off. Back to manual 🙂

Thanks
