Premiere Desyncs Imported MP4

I recently imported an mp4 into Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2018 and the audio desynced from the video by a couple of seconds. Initially, I thought the issue might be with variable framerates. I knew Premiere has had issues with it in the past and discovered that they finally added a fix in the most recent update. So I downloaded the update and checked the Properties of the desyncing clip only to find that Premiere didn't label it as having a variable framerate. I also recorded a VFR video in Nvidia GeForce's Shadowplay, just to make sure that Premiere recognized its VFR and it did.

What's also odd is that this same clip plays perfectly fine in VLC with no desyncing. The clip itself is an MSNBC news segment downloaded from TVeyes. I've never had issues with TVeyes clips in the past, but I'm wondering if they changed how they encode their clips.

I'm sure there are multiple issues outside of VFR that cause Premiere to desync video and audio, but are there any solutions to these other problems?

Also, I'm running Windows 10.

news segment downloaded

That's not the best source material for a professional NLE.  You're better off using your own camera originals.  There are plenty of consumer editing programs out there which may work better with non-standardized media.

Try transcoding the video with Handbrake before importing into Premiere Pro.

It's no good! Imagine a 6 hour video convert, and then convert it after installation, it takes a lot of time, it's faster to adjust the speed video in Premer...

All good health!

I have the same problem as the author above.

There is a 6 hour video, in all videoplayers it is played without any dissynchronization, and in Premer Pro by the end there is a strong dissynchronization.

Most likely the problem is in the dynamic FPS which Premer Pro does not support. Tried Vegas, but there too most ...

I would like developers to somehow solve this problem.
