Premiere Freezing While Playing Timeline

Premiere Pro 2018 seems to be having trouble with two avi files in my project. Every time I try to render the timeline, the program freezes. One time it crashed and gave me this error message:

D:\haberdasher\releases\2017.08\premierepro\uiframework\src\timebarcontrol

Any idea what's going on?

I gave up and converted the files to .mp4. They work fine now

AVI is a wrapper, what is inside YOUR wrapper - Exactly what is INSIDE the video you are editing?

Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below... A screen shot works well to SHOW people what you are doing - For Windows Internet Explorer press the PRINT SCREEN button on your keyboard, and then do CTRL-V to paste the screen print from the clipboard into a forum message

Free programs to get file information for PC/Mac http://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo/Download

- when you analyze your file in MediaInfo and post a screen shot in the forum, do so in TREE view

Here's the info for one of the videos:

Here's what I'm seeing in premiere:

I try to view that clip but all I get is "media pending" and the screen gets glitchy.... and after I've scrolled over that clip, none of the other clips will render, either. The screen in the program monitor stays black. And then I have to force quit the program.
