Question

Premiere is crashing

Hello dear group,

I was having the most ridiculous problems with Premiere 2026 and After Effects 2026 , particularly with their integration. Every time I try to resize the windows in the workspace, the application stops working. I was performing very trivial operations in Premiere 2026, and it kept crashing. To be fair, the next day the situation improved—except when I tried to drag a guide, at which point the same issue occurred again. I’ve been very careful not to make any unnecessary movements.

Yesterday, when I converted a Premiere clip into an After Effects composition (AE 2026), I encountered the same problem multiple times—this time in After Effects. I’m even embarrassed to report such a trivial issue, but it is what it is. I just spent two hours reopening the app, restarting my computer, and so on.

I’m not very hopeful, but if anyone has any insights or advice about this ridiculous situation, I would be very grateful. Thank you.

For interface-related issues like this, the most likely causes are GPU-related problems or corrupted preferences.

    1. Update your graphics drivers. Outdated or incompatible drivers can cause crashes during simple UI actions like resizing panels or dragging guides.

    2. Reset your preferences. Corrupted preference files can lead to unstable behavior like the one you described.

After completing both steps, restart your system and test again.
