Premiere Locks Up, Eventually Crashes After Export

I'm on Premiere version 23.6. Every time I export from Premiere, or export via Media Encoder, the program becomes sluggish and essentially locks up. Eventually it will crash and/or require closing and relaunch. 

 

This has happened before with prior versions, but never to this extent.

    This has started happening to me too! I'm just trying to export short clips to then reuse in my project, but after exporting (either direct from premiere or via media encoder) the project becomes unusable! For me, the project remains broken after force-quitting and reopening. My workaround has been to create a new project and import the entire previous project into it, then everything runs smoothly again. Certainly a new bug, I've not had this happen before and it's obviously incredibly hurting my workflow...
