Question

Premiere on a 2015 MacBook Pro

This question has been answered in the affirmative a few years back.  But I'm curious if it's still true.

I want to let my highschooler use my older MacBook Pro, but I'm uncertain if it can still handle Premiere.

Specs are:

mid-2015, 15" macbook pro

2.8Ghz quad-core intel core i7

1TB flash storage and Intel Iris Pro Graphics + AMD Radeon R9 M370X with 2GB GDDR5

Is that a hopeless cause?

If workable, what kind of limitations would he experience?

Thanks

I have the model below that (2.7GHz and 1GB of display RAM).

1080p Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) editing will be a breeze.

2160p Apple ProRes 422 (HQ) will play, but any rendering will take a long time.  For 2160p, I take advantage of the Proxy workfow, finishing on my Mac Pro.

It has two USB3 ports and two Thunderbolt2 ports, so fast, external storage is easy to connect.

how much ram does it have?  What's the problem with just trying it?  If you've already got a subscription you can temporarily deactivate another computer.  Or install the free trial?
