Premiere only imports audio hevc clip

So I've seen several previous threads about this with no answer's, I am editing on windows 10. I have footage that was shot in HEVC 10-bit 4:2:0 at 4k 60P in .mov. When I import the clips into premiere, the only thing that appears is the audio file. It's as if premiere just converts the clips to a wave file.

Don't bother mentioning media cache. I've deleted it, moved it to another directory. I've also renamed the clips and moved them. Nothing has worked. I am editing on the latest version of premiere and windows 10 is also up to date.

Useful answers would be appreciated.

    Allright, try this.

1- Close Premiere and all adobe apps
    2- Delete folder c:\user\public\documents\adobeinstalledcodecs\1.0

3- Launch Premiere, create a new project and import HEVC file.

4- A message should appear saying that HEVC codes will be installed, click ok.

This will reinstall/update your HEVC codec.

Let me know if it works.

I'm just converting everything to prores.

After spending hours and hours trying to get HEVC Go Pro clips to import video and not just audio (a year ago it worked fine), I found an easy solution: swith to Davinci Resolve.

When renaming, try changing the extension from .mov to .mp4

If that works, let me know so I can suggest a few fixes so that you can import your files correctly without renaming

renaming no longer works. The only way to get it to work is to convert it to prores which is a pain in the ass because I have a lot of footage.
