Premiere Performance Issue

Hi everyone. I'm having pretty severe performance issues with Premiere Pro. Delays of over 10 seconds between most actions and the action happening, including playback or just selecting a place on the timeline. I've been looking through the posts here and trying out different solutions but nothing has helped. Below are my system specs and the things I've tried already, would really appreciate any ideas.

  • GPU: RTX 3090
  • CPU: Ryzen 9 5950X
  • RAM: 32 GB
  • Storage: 2 1TB nvme's, each is about half full, cache is on one and project files are on the other.

I'm dealing with 4k footage but I've scaled them down to a 1080p sequence and also made ProRes proxies.

Cache is cleared, drivers are up to date., Premiere up to date.

I've rendered them in-project.

Ensured GPU acceleration is on.

Playback is at 1/4 resolution.

None of the above has made any noticeable difference. Would appreciate any thoughts, thanks!

Hi Kay_MacGregor0032,

We're sorry about the poor experience. Let us know the version of Pr you are using. Are you experiencing playback lag specifically in the Program monitor, or is it also present in the Source monitor? Is this happening while working with a specific project or all of them?

Thanks,

Sumeet

How does it go if you create a brand new project and import maybe ten of the video files you are working with? Same issues now as well?

Try creating a new project and import the old one into it.

I've tried doing this a few times and it has either crashed Premiere or the import worked but the delay between inputs and the action happening became even longer, like a full minute.

Try Preferences > Audio Hardware and set Input to None.

If that doesn't work, try resetting the preferences:

I appreciate the suggestions! Unfortunately I tried both of these and neither improved things.
