Question

Premiere pro 12.0 opens 11.0 files without any content

After the recent update to 12.0 i can't seem to open some files from the previous 11.0 version.
They appear all blanc, no timeline or other content.

I've re-installed the 11.0 version, but it can't open the files with it.

an error accured saying it's has been openend with a newer version, so that option is not the answer.

Any idea's ?

Wouldn"t want to recreate my work

This is what I keep getting when starting new projects. The only work around is to open a previous project and go up to "File->New Project".

Hit the Reset to Saved Layout several times Under Window/workspaces

Might also want to uncheck Import workspace from project.

Best practice when migrating between versions is ALWAYS duplicate the project file first, rename (or do a save-as from the old program) ... then ingest the project file by creating a new project file in the new version, then using the Media browser panel in that version of PrPro to navigate to and select the duplicated-save-as project file.

This is more reliable for migration ... and by using a dupe, you can always continue the project in the old version.

Now ... it's very unfortunate they don't have the upgrading dialog clearly set so you know it's going to remove the previous version. Which you can keep by opening the "Advanced options" section which has only ONE option ... uncheck the 'remove previous versions' line so it won't remove previous versions.

You mean video files or project files?

How are you opening them

Start over with the last saved project of 2017 by importing the project into 2018.

I mean project files.
Double clicking, or open recent won't work
Importing won't work
