Premiere Pro 14.9 Render returned error

Updated to 14.9 but Premiere hasn't been able to render my 30 second video. It doesn't matter if I edit the timecode that it shows, it shifts between about 11.5 seconds and 23 seconds no matter which one I edit. Running with Intel HD Graphics 4400 (work computer) so software render only.

The error message is:

Error compiling movie.

Render Error.

Render returned error.

Writing with exporter: QuickTime

Writing to file: [my file location]

Around timecode: 00:00:23:05

Rendering at offset: 11.478 seconds

Component: QuickTime of type Exporter

Selector: 17

Error code: -1609760768

I already tried changing the preview render type and I'm already using software render only, so I'm not sure where to go from here.

Correct answer Ann Bens

You need to fix whatever is on the timeline at give time in error.

Best is to delete section from project

Rename, re-import and do the edit again.

any chance your source footage comes from a screen recording or a smartphone?  If so, the issue may be sources with a variable frame rate which can have many inconsistent intermittent manifestations...

use mediainfo to determine whether your source is variable or constant frame rate

https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo/Download

if it's variable use handbrake to convert to constant frame rate

https://handbrake.fr
and here's a tutorial on how to use handbrake
