Premiere Pro 2017 - Update Turned Adjustment Layers into "Black Video" - HELP

At first, when the program monitor was blank, I thought I would just have to wait for PP to load my video files (this project was created in the 2015 version of the software, and the change to 2017 prompted me to make a new file for the project).

Now as I inspect the footage, and it is still blank, I tried to toggle on/off the track output (the eyeball icon) and when I toggled the video layer where my adjustment layers were located I could suddenly see my footage again.

I right-clicked on the adjustment layer and found "Properties" it was revealed to me what was once an adjustment layer is now described as

"File Path: Black Video

Type: Black Video"

Please help ! All my color correction manipulation has been lost as a result of this.

Not happy AT ALL if this change is permanent !!

I know I'm late to the party here but I am experiencing the same issue in a project I started fresh in Premiere Pro 2017. I thought it may just be a glitch with the lumetri panel, but any effect I add to an adjustment layer causes my program monitor to go black...

Can someone from Adobe address the issue before our clients all have our heads? @Adobe

This is actually just a user forum.

Give this a look.  See if anything helps.

Thanks Jim!

I'm new to the forums. Wasn't sure how to go about reaching out to the Adobe folks directly.

I noticed this when exporting some sequences from PP 2015.2 as XML. When I created a new 2017 project and imported the XML, where there was an adjustment layer showed up as black.

Quite frustrating isn't it !!

Currently, ALL OF MY PREVIOUS PROJECTS now have "Black Video" layers instead of adjustment layers, and all my footage now has zero grading done to it. So much work needs to be done all because of an update I didn't ask for...

Go back to 2015, finish project and start fresh in 2017.

Create a new adjustment layer and copy/paste all the effects onto it, then delete the one that doesn't work.

Hi Jim_Simon,

Unfortunately, all the data within the previous adjustment layer is lost. If I try to copy and paste onto a new adjustment layer it does nothing because the black video has no color correction data.

I make all color correction changes with Lumetri Color and 3-Way Color Corrector.

Try to import your 2015 project version into the 2017 premeire version and see if its going to work

Hi Muhannad,

When I opened the new project it automatically prompted me to save the file as "[name of project] _1" so it is now a 2017 PP project and when transferring the file from 2015->2017 version it turned my adjustment layers into "Black Video" layers.
