Premiere Pro 2020 Settings/Presets/Layout/Interface

Hi guys.

Just installed Premiere Pro 2020, but lost all settings, especially presets, and layout settings, pretty much everything.

I tried to sync it, but didn't work.

Is there anyway to grab the other version's settings/everything across the new version ?

Cheers

I don't think so, but maybe someone else here has a clue.  If you're feeling adventurous, go to your documents folder and dig in to the adobe folder and inside that into the latest version of premiere folder and inside that profile with your user name and there's a folder called "archived layouts."  you might try moving the contents of that folder (which I think are your customized workspaces) into the "layouts" folder.  (but backup the contents of the current "layouts" folder first).  That may (no promises) retreive your workspaces.  If you're not used to doing this sort of thing, it might be smarter to bite the bullet and just rebuild your presets.   Gotta say, I have to do this everyonceinawhile and it's not that big a deal.  good luck

and it's always a good idea to back-up your startup drive on a regular basis.  every hard drive will fail eventually.  it's not a question of if, but when and that includes solid state drives.  Not a windoze guy, but on the mac you can use a program called carboncopycloner to create a bootable clone and the program will do an incremental backup which if done on a regular basis will only take a few minutes.  as a matter of fact, I'm working on a macbookpro at the moment and I don't have a clone.  time to do it.

and if you're on windows, found this with a quick google

launch the previous version and synch your settings to the cloud and then launch the new version and synch from the cloud.  Doesn't always work but worth a shot.

Ok, now it actually did the opposite... my god... it synced the new with the old !

Damn... how do I fix that ?

Did you erase the previous version when you downloaded the new one? If so, check your disk backups, those files will be in the user folder (it's in Documents on a Mac, not sure about Windows).
