Premiere Pro 2023 - Audio Automatically Gain Upon Upload?

Hi all - long time Premiere user, but new to Premiere Pro 2023 Version 23.3 (I've been behind a few editions on an older computer until recently).

So this is weird, I've never had this issue on the older Premiere Pro CC, and I've changed no settings on my camera/microphone - but whenever I've uploaded video files from my memory card and imported them into Premiere Pro 2023, they automatically have a higher gain applied to them in the audio:

Is there a setting I'm missing that is causing this to happen in 23.3/Premiere Pro 2023?  I don't think it's my microphone, as once I turn the audio levels down to the normal range, things sound fine.  Am I missing some setting somewhere?  Or what's going on?  Thank you in advance for your help!
