Premiere Pro 2025 Build 61 - Not Saving Voice Over

Problem: After pressing the record button, peforming voice over, and ending recording, the clip is not saved nor inserted into the timeline.

Context: Re-installed Windows 10 and all Adobe software. Opened up an existing project built and edited in Premiere 2024 but cannot save any VO to the project folder/timeline. Traditional solutions have failed. I have attempted to:

  1. Delete preferences / cache
  2. Re-install Premiere 2025 and installed two most recent 2024 versions
  3. Confirmed app has mic control and correct microphone is selected
  4. When allowing voice to playback during recording, I hear my own voice while recording
  5. Attempting making a new project and importing content from old project into the new one
  6. Fully re-installed all Adobe software
  7. Launched each version as administrator
  8. Closed all other apps using the microphone
  9. Tried opening/using other project files
  10. Tried doing VO in a new project using tutorial footage

Context: In this instance, prior to re-installing Windows, my special "Videos" folder with the unique icon (image below) was assigned to a folder on a separate storage drive (F:\) than my Windows boot/main drive (C:\). This "Videos" folder is unique and when Windows was re-installed it defaulted the "Videos" location back on the C drive but my separate storage F drive still had the "Videos" folder as well. This created what I can only assume was a permission conflict which was suspected after I tried to "Save As" the project file on the F drive and getting a prompt saying I don't have write access. I was able to confirm this by moving the project file to my "Downloads" folder on my C drive and was able to save my voice over clips without issue.

Solution: Move ALL project folders/assets out of the special "Videos" folder into a diferent location.

Example: My "Videos" folder was located at F:\Videos\<project folders> so I moved my <project folders> so it looked like F:\<project folders>. I then deleted the "Videos" folder and made a new one that wasn't associated with the unique "Videos" folder Windows uses.

Appendix:

This is the unique icon Windows uses for its "Videos" folder. There are other similar unique folders Windows uses for things like Pictures, Music, etc.

Update:

All records are being saved into the project folder but NOT inserted into the actual project timeline and I'm occasionally having a clip get saved into the timline.

Hi!

I am having this same issue and am having trouble comprehending what you are saying the fix is.

I found a temporary fix by creating a custom location for the Audio Preview and Audio Capture scratch disks. But after a couple of minutes it seems to be missing from the timeline again. I think it is saving the previews into the capture folder for some unknown reason.
