Premiere Pro 24.2.1 VO record stopped working after update

Macbook Air 1.6 GHZ intel Icore i5, Mac OS 13.2.1 , Premiere Pro 24.2.1

voice over record from external Scarlet USB mic stopped working after update. The problem is definitely on the premiere side, as I get levels in the Mac OS sound panel with inputs set to Scarlet USB. All premiere settings are set correctly to Scarlet USB input, preferences have been reset but no success - not getting any levels and recorded clips are empty. Please advise.
