Premiere Pro 25.5 Transcription Issue - From great to REALLY bad

Anyone having issues with 25.5 and transcribing?

I've been using the transcription tool for years. It's been nearly flawless for me for 18-24 months except for one update that was fixed quickly.

Essentially, the transcription tool is "shitting the bed".  I have several 6-10 minute interviews and the transcript is missing 99% of the interview. Showing elipses that sometimes span :10s+.

Audio is fine on the clips. All English speaking Americans. I've done nothing different from what I've done the last 4+ years.

Anyone else having issues? I'm about to uninstall/reinstall as reseting prefs has not worked.

I’m having the same issue with version 25.5 — the transcript feature doesn’t work.
I tested it on version 24.x, and the transcript works fine there.
I tried reporting this through the virtual assistant, but it wasn’t helpful and just made the process frustrating, so I couldn’t submit the bug report.

Having the same issues.  Either it doesn't transcribe or when I move clips on my timeline; the transcription panel doesn't update so text is from previous clips.  The only way I can get this corrected is to restart Premiere Pro but as someone who's editing 50-75 social media reels with captions a month; absolutely not practical to restart EVERY TIME I move clips around.

Didn't have this issue in previous versions

I was told that it was because Premiere Pro didn't have full write access on my Mac (never needed it before) but that doesn't help either

my premiere pro has not transcribed a text in months .. thinking of switching over to davinci resolve. this is not worth a monthly subscription. I de-intalled. delted all premiere pro files and re-installed and nothing. I downloaded premiere on my SSD and still nothing .. sigh

@Chad22158382h0cg,

The sample clip appeared to have phase cancellation - it showed "No dialogue." I just extracted mono and used one channel. I don't think that's your issue, because what you get is an empty transcription - not a bad one. I tested in Beta 25.6.0.74, and when all was well, also tested in Release 25.5.0. My sample below.

I'll also note that I have a couple clips I use frequently for testing, and neither of them (nor any other transcriptions) have shown the dramatically bad accuracy you are seeing.

See these posts regarding reinstalling for transcription issues. I do not know if both 2024 and 2025 need to be removed for your issue. Also note that, for example if you were addressing an issue with PR 2023, that add-on files are not available for versions that are no longer available for installation.

There appear to be independent transcription files for each version. Is uninstalling only the latest version sufficient?

Any other thoughts about sudden, very poor transcription accuracy?

Phase cancelation? Hmmm.... odd. It was just a on mic-set up on this (I just used one lav on each talent). Same setup I've been using for years. Audio straight to camera. Output at .mp4 out to SD card.

I will say after I posted this I tried transcribing a simple VO .mp3... and it worked perfectly. So it does appear to be these clips. But again, I'm sure what is different here... same video/audio capture that I've been doing for quite some time.

Thanks for looking into this.

Hi Chad22158382h0cg,

We're sorry to hear about this. Is this happening with any specific audio or with all of them? Transcription seems to be working fine at my end. If possible, would you mind sharing one of the sample audio with which you are experiencing this issue? It will help us diagnose it properly.

Thanks,

Sumeet

Sure... here's a trimmed and edited clip. I also have a screen shot of the "transcription"... and you can see that it's barely catching anything.
