Question

Premiere Pro bugs, glitches, crashes

Hello all. I am currently a sophomore in college.  In December of last year, I made the slow transition into the field of digital media. After a while of figuring out how everything works, I decided to join the Adobe family. Things have gone okay for the most part, but as I have progressed I have gotten more opportunities and taken on more responsibilities in my field of work. This often becomes difficult when I have to deal with constant Premiere Pro bugs, glitches, crashes, all of which somehow always result in none of my projects being auto-saved, causing me to lose HOURS of work. I cannot keep taking steps backwards when I have such a great opportunity ahead of me. What can I do about this as I have been searching for hours with no results.

Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, which are the programs I am familiar with, are stunningly and shockingly buggy. Like it amazes me how Adobe has managed to stay on top considering the quality of the software that the offer. I guess those are the perks of being a near monopoly (you can make a bad program in which people can lose HOURS of work and is startlingly inconsistent without losing market dominance). Glad to see that Premire is not that different. And it is genuinely wild that one of the solutions to a bad autosave is "don't use it." Adobe should get their act together and start to fix bugs and offer a better product instead of jamming bad AI generated vectors down everyone's throat. I pay for this software, I should not have to click to x out of multiple notifcations of whatever the latest version of Adobe's AI drivel is. I PAY FOR IT. I PAY A WILD AMOUNT A MONTH FOR THIS PROGRAM, MAKE IT CONSISTENT AND MAKE IT WORK. PLEASE. FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY STOP BEING TERRIBLE. SHAME.

Just saw that it was a senior community manager that told you to not rely on Adobe's terrible autosave. He teaches it to his students. That is shocking. Tells you all you need to know about the priorities of this company.

HI @Devon30674142tbg5,

Sorry for the frustration. You can send the product team feedback by creating a bug report here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro/ct-p/ct-premiere-pro?page=1&sort=latest_replies&filter=all&lang=all&tabid=bugs

I agree with Bob. I used to teach editing students to do the same. Many editors back up projects manually a few times daily for safekeeping or in case the Auto Save version does not work or becomes corrupt.

You can also save yourself a lot of heartache by maintaining the projects. Do this by launching them periodically and making sure that you are not updating your OS or hardware until exploring the implications of those decisions on these mission critical projects.

I hope the advice helps.

Thanks,

Kevin

I understand your frustration.  Autosave has not always worked properly.

Sometimes you need to make a manual save before autosave will start.

You should be making manual saves at regular intervals.  Then you won't be losing hours of work.

I make manual saves and backups after major edits on a regular basis.

Hi Devon30674142tbg5!

Sorry about the trouble. Would you mind sharing your system details (OS, CPU, RAM, GPU)? Which version of Premiere Pro are you using?

Let us know. Happy to help.

Thanks.
