Question

Premiere Pro CC 2015, audio cuts off randomly

Hi,

I installed the 2015 update today, which is giving me a hard time editing.

The video plays just fine (1920 x 1080 .MTS file, at 25 fps)

But for some reason, the audio keeps cutting out at random intervals.

Minimizing Premiere fixes the problem for a few sec, then it starts again.

Thanks!

I had this same problem, and this was the only solution I found to getting MTS audio files to show up in premier.

1) Download Handbrake (open source, free video transcoder) link https://handbrake.fr

2) Click open source & select the vid that wont show the audio properly in premier

3) Set codec to MP3, bitrate to 192, & mixdown to auto or stereo

4) Click start encode.....

It takes a while to convert, but you will not lose any quality and your audio will now show up.

This might sound absurd, but creating a new user (under 10.10 mac) solved all my problems for 2 months.
Doesn't really make much sense, but it worked..

Ever since Adobe updated PP about three (?) weeks ago, I don't think I've experienced any audio drop outs (Windows 7 Professional).

I'm having the same issue except my timeline won't play at all. I've had Adobe access my computer to try to figure out the supposed audio hardware issue to no avail. And they've suggested as I've seen in this post it could be related to the project file, as other new project's I've tested seem to be fine, but the current project I'm working on is the one I'm concerned about. I've tried exporting and importing XML, copying and pasting clips, importing entire project, but no luck.

I have similar problems with my audio on the timeline, especially with P2 footage ( sony and mixed audio files) and does not recognise the other 2 audio tracks. I also get a clipping noise when playing back, but export seems fine.  Did a small test, could be my mac and grounding issue(not related). I also import mixed media on a time line with footage that has recorded 5.1 I can not seem to adjust the levels and use the pen tool, can only work with the audio mixer. Something is definitely wrong with pro cc with the audio. Please fix the bug Adobe. I have also had clipping problems and repeats in audio on export with pro cc 2015. Some how it gets confused and repeats the same audio, had to restart and export again.

Have you installed today's update yet? We have a lot of fixes related to audio that you can try out.

Thanks,

Kevin

Still no audio dropout fix. I can lower my sample rates, render, delete cache files manually, save, reboot, restart..all that..til I am blue in the face. At the end of the day, this new update just SUCKS. Even with todays newest update, this issue is listed (non specifically I might add) as being fixed, yet it is clearly not fixed.

Never had to jump through these hoops with cc2014. Seriously bummed out about this...and I'm paying good money for the subscription which essentially has my hands tied right now costing me more money.

Amen to that, morymb1. I feel like I'm working with a 386 CPU. I hope the fix Adobe promises comes soon.

I may have figured out what the major cause is here. I think it's the Audio Playback engine selectable in the Preferences > Playback > Audio Device. As default it was set to Adobe DV (which I thought was strange!) but once returned to Adobe Desktop Audio it's been almost fine. I had a single drop whilst scrubbing as opposed to constantly before.

I've also found that I'm not getting all the memory leaks I was before.

Cheers,

Jon

Thanks, Jon.

I tried this before and have my settings as you describe, but my audio issues continue. Still probing Adobe for a solution.

Ah Yes! I had forgotten to add this in my post Premiere Pro CC 2015 Issues

I too am experiencing exactly this same problem. Fortunately, for me,. rebooting and re-trying a few times seemed to have solved this. I am not sure, so please do not quote me, but I think that the problem was resolved once the indexing has completed.

Just leave the system for a while, reboot, restart Premiere and it 'might' work.

Cheers to all

Yes, since installing Premiere CC 2015, I'm having all kinds of bugs... and I know my computer is in top shape. At times, whatever I try to do, I get no response at all and then I have to force it to shut down. Then, I also get these audio/hardware overloaded messages. And to crown it all, when I render from Media Encoder it's crashing... luckily, rendering still works in AE. What just happened? I'm a fan of Adobe products and now I'm really puzzled (and frustrated) at the issues I'm encountering.

I am experiencing a similar problem.  When I first start playback after launching Premiere I frequently receive the following error message...

audio hardware I/O overload at (time-code) in "adobe player"

The time code is not a specific spot in a sequence.  Just wherever I start playing from.  I am wondering, Basxttt, if you are receiving a similar error message?  Is there an orange error triangle at the bottom rt of your screen?

Similar to what you described, after that sometimes the audio plays, and sometimes it doesn't.  For me the problem was usually continuing until I restarted Premiere or the whole computer.  Usually once it is working well it will continue and vice versa.

I expect there will be some bugs on the first release of Premiere also I running on the latest version of Windows 10, so I do expect there to be some bumps along the road.  But I am really hoping someone has some answers.

In terms of setup/hardware,   I am running Premiere Pro 2015 (also just updated) on Asus X99 Pro system with Realtek HD Audio driver v10.0.10130.0.

Under Premiere's audio hardware my output device is just set to the stereo out port connected to my studio monitors.  Latancy is set to the default 200ms with a sample rate of 4800.

I am wondering if changing latency might make any differences...?  And thanks to anyone who has some advice!
