Question

Premiere Pro CC 2017 will not play after editing audio in Audition CC 2017. Why?

  • I select an audio clip in Premiere Pro 2017's timeline.
  • The Render and Replace dialogue opens.
  • Audition CC 2017 opens, audio clip edits successfully.
  • I save the clip, return to Premiere Pro.
  • The revised clip does not appear in Premiere Pro 2017. On another try, Premiere replaced the clip and included a shaded area indicating its shortened length. I trim in the deleted portion of the clip. But in both cases...
  • Premiere Pro will not play.
  • I delete the audio clip.
  • Premiere Pro will not play.
  • I save the project.
  • Premiere Pro will not play.
  • I manually replace the audio clip with the edited version from my bin.
  • Premiere Pro will not play.
  • I search this Forum, find no solution, then write this post. This has taken 10 minutes.
  • I return to Premiere Pro. For some unexplained reason, it now plays.
  • Premiere Pro and Audition have been open but remained untouched until just now. For some reason waiting a few minutes solves the issue — if you consider waiting a few minutes a workaround.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Premiere Pro and Audition.

Problem persists.

My registry properly reports AdobeAudition10_sesx in Classes Roots.

Prior to 2017 installs, the round trip between Premiere and Audition worked flawlessly.

Why not now?

WIndows 10, system meets or exceeds Adobe's minimum requirements

Hi MLinder,

Sorry for this unexpected audio glitch.

This sounds like normal behavior. When importing audio files, you do need to allow a bit of time in order for the audio files to "conform." When I say "conform," that means that certain background files need to be created before they can be played back properly within Premeire Pro. See this KB doc: Conform media in Premiere Pro

You can tell when conforming is completed when there are no more text warnings appearing in the lower right corner of the interface.

Thanks,
Kevin
