Premiere Pro CC 2018 Preview Settings ARE BROKEN?

Hi,

I use 1920x1080 59,9FPS DNX1080 profile, which means my preview settings are also 1920x1080 at 59,9FPS.

I would like to lower my preview resolution and framerate in order to improve preview performance, as my CPU and GPU aren't spring chickens anymore.

Whenever I enter my sequence settings and try to change the preview res and framerate to anything lower than the project's settings, the changes are either reversed immediately or cause a crash. On other occasions there isn't even an option available to change the preview settings to anything other than the current project settings.

Any idea how I can do this?

Have you tried running the program monitor at lower quality instead? As I understand it, preview settings only affects the parts of the timeline that need to be rendered.

Thanks for the reply, yes I am running the program monitor at 1/4 which is the lowest setting that I can apply, but I still experience heavy lagging when I'm editing graphic intensive slideshows and such. Anything else I can do here to further lower the strain on the program monitor?
