Hello Adobe Community,

since I am using my new PC I have serious problems with premiere.

After Multitasking, for example opening Chrome, I can't play videos

in premiere anymore. The amount of crashes is also pretty high.

I am using the newest version of premiere and this is my Hardware Setup:

AMD Ryzen 5 1600

MSI B350 board

16 GB of ram

EVGA Geforce GTX980

samsung 970 evo 256 GB

2x 3TB Western Digital

Hopefully there is a way to get rid of the crashes. (?)

I am using old version of stuff ( cs6) and have a custom build editing computer that is NOT hooked up to internet. I use a laptop for email and stuff like simple scrubbing through clips I shot etc. But I don't use the laptop for serious editing. It's supposed to be a high end 'gaming' computer ( the laptop) but it is NOT up to par for real editing ( even just full HD ).

In the old days, like a few years ago, when people edited stuff it was very demanding on the resources of the computer. It needs to be done sorta just focusing on that activity. Otherwise the resources of computer get overwhelmed ( memory shared with other stuff, CPU getting different chores to do at same time, etc. )

So, in short, multitasking can mean a lot of things, and it may be that you should just focus on editing task and NOT do a lot of other things at the same time.

Someone here was upset recently cause he got phone calls through his computer while editing and couldn't understand why that multitasking activity interrupted his ability to keep editing when he got off the phone.

My personal viewpoint is that if you want to edit, just do that and nothing else. When done go do the multitasking stuff.

Good luck !

You'll be happy to know that you are not alone, historically. This guy used to complain CONSTANTLY about not being able to get his work done while multitasking.
