Premiere Pro CC no longer exporting at usual quality or speed

I'm using the latest version of Premiere (11.1.2) , my PC has an i7-7700 CPU and 16 GB of RAM. I've been shooting all of my material for an upcoming short film in 4K at 30fps, so I've been exporting all trailers and videos in YouTube 2160p 4K. This has been working great for me for the past few months, but recently, I attempted to export a short video (10 seconds) in 4K, but Premiere crashes at 3% every time. I tried this with a longer video (1 1/2 minutes) and it did the same thing to me. I also tried to export at 1080p 29.97 but this 10 second video took almost 10 minutes, which has NOT been the norm. Any possible solutions would be greatly appreciated as I do have some deadlines I'd like to meet. Thanks.

You may want to clean your disk cache.

On the top of the interface Premiere Pro (Mac) or Edit (Windows)/Preferences/Media and disk cache then click "clean unused" and save your project and re-start Premiere. Then re-open project and try exporting.

I'd strongly recommend using Media Encoder for outputting your files. After you go to file/export media there is a Queue button on the bottom of the export panel. If you have Media Encoder installed this button will send the file(s) to Media Encoder. Lots of options in Media Encoder and very reliable.

Hi masonk,

+1 for Rob's comment.

  • Try exporting via AME. It displays a thumbnail view of the file while encoding. If your export fails at 3% every time, you can see where the export fails exactly and make necessary changes.
  • Also, try exporting to a different format and check if that helps.
  • Is the Video Renderer set to OpenCL or software only?

Thanks,

Rameez
