Premiere Pro CC Text Tool Not Generating Text in Program Window

When I go to my Text Tool and click it, then go to my program window I do not get anything other than my regular arrow, no text blinking red box, nothing but the arrow.  I got it once but I do not know how to get it back again.  There is something I am missing.  I click on the clip, I click on the Text Tool "T", and then I go to the programming window and nothing happens.  It is very frustrating that I cannot call support to quickly get instructions live to fix this problem.

You click/drag to set a text box area, then click within the box to start typing. They have numerous tutorials in the Getting Started help materials on using the EGP system. I'm also including links to a few tutorials that are pretty short but good at basic use of the EGP graphics workspace. Note, these are from the 'last' generation of the app, so there's some new features. They will get you started though.
