Premiere Pro CC Update Buggy- Delaying My Projects On A Massive Scale

I'm experiencing such a massive amount of bugs with the new Adobe 2019 Premiere Pro CC update. I'm a professional film editor in NYC, and this update has seriously delayed my work. I'm sure people on here can agree?

What are people's work-arounds? Or should I just delete this program altogether? Unfortunately I've started using this with some bigger projects, so now have to wait it out and start fresh with other projects with 2018 or something.

But seriously, this new update is so buggy, I'm constantly finding workarounds and closing out almost every time I use the program. And i shouldn't be because i'm working on a 64gb ram iMac.

I've been unfortunately faced with countless bugs: From the "find" button not working, to sound displaying wave forms and suddenly not playing sound- to alpha channel renders not registering with the program and creating weird blue backgrounds (and the dynamic link not working so rendering from After Effects and dragging in now clip by clip)? The resolve I've been finding is seriously closing out of Premiere Pro and reopening it again and dragging in the renders again and again, and i can't afford to constantly keep doing this.

How do you go from a solid working program to something that's such a disaster @adobe lol.  I really regret updating from 2018 (that worked pretty well in my option and didn't need to change much) to the 2019 program.

Hey there Erin

Have you managed to resolve the issues that have plagued you?

Please ket me know, I have moved over all my Macs to High Sierra after testing exhaustively to check stability.

Huge difference on High Sierra especially with the APFS file structure being super fast with Fusion Drives, So I have found a great performance area i.e High Sierra with both CC2018 and CC2019

Let mew know how your side is looking

Hi Erinwhitsonvideo,

First of all, have you solved this issue yet?

I understand the frustration and I know what you're going through. I hope we can help you work through your problems. A good first start is to let us know more info about your system and media. This FAQ might be helpful in determining the most helpful info. FAQ: What information should I provide when asking a question on this forum?

The other thing that seems to be a recurring theme from you and others on this thread is that you are updating projects across major new versions of Premiere Pro. An editor's rule of thumb is to avoid doing this. In other words, finish your project in the version it was created in. Seems odd, as with most other applications you don't have to worry about this. Updating a project "rewires" that project and might break some aspects of the application. Start only brand new projects on new versions and you will be much better off.

It's best to install the previous version of the application if you have removed it, and then finish up those CC 2018 projects there.

One other thing that can occur on Mac is when you update to new versions of macOS. Every major update of macOS should be followed up with performing the following actions on the permissions of all your Adobe folders. Please go through these steps, as they can never hurt. Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later)

Hope that bit of info helps you.

Thanks,
Kevin

i think i experience the sound issue a lot too. it happens whenever i have spent too much time in other applications. the waveforms and even the meters will move on playback but there is no sound being output from the speakers. only workaround i have found for this is a reboot.

Make sure cache is cleared and use an application that can free up RAM and clear RAM cache, Theres a ton of them for Mac but I refer CleanMyMacX or MacBooster that allows you to free up RAM

yeah i have clean my mac and always cleaning my cash and freeing up hard drive space. I think for me it's honestly issues with the programming of 2019 because the other versions work great on my computer. At first 2018 had it's issues and wouldn't load for a few months haha, but think they resolves those bugs because I was using it religious for months without fault. Now 2019 seems to be a sore.

Hi Erin

As I mentioned in a previous post, most end users read the press release when a new versions is about to be launched, get really excited and can't wait to upgrade. As we Beta testers know, the bugs are plentiful during the development life cycle and a few bugs do get carried over to final product especially when 3rd party companies like Nvidia, Microsoft, Apple etc are also busy releasing new versions of their OS's and software. So its a continuous evolution that is sometimes plagued by gremlins. Like Windows Vista was and always will be remembered for being "The Useless Baby" and High Sierra being know as "The Homeless Child"  I see CC2019 going down in history as "The Gremlin". It will eventually mature and stabilize but for now my advice would be to remain on 2018 until you start hearing news of stability finally settling in. There are lots of cool new features in CC2019 but, in my opinion, not even to warrant the time wasted with buggy and non functional issues being encountered.

Adobe is working to resolve these but until then, if you are on a mission critical project please stay on 2018

I keep several versions installed. When a new build series comes out, I add it rather than replace the previous version, and test before doing real projects.

For updates to a version,  I'll still install and test use on *copies* of a current project in that version. If all goes well, then I'll use it for work.

Even then, on copies of the project file so there's always a way back to production by reverting to the earlier build if needed.

Hey there, Erin

I'm so sorry to hear that the most recent updates are affecting you like this. Obviously each update is intended to better the program for every user, but I can see that's not happening here.
