Premiere Pro Crashes on Launch After macOS Tahoe 26.2 Update – Only v25.5 Works, Blocking Team Colla
System Details:
- macOS: Tahoe 26.2
- Premiere Pro: Tried latest versions (25.x and betas up to 26.x), but crashes persist except on v25.5
- Hardware:M2 Max
- No specific error message in UI, but debug assert pops up (details below)
Issue Description: Premiere Pro fails to fully load and crashes shortly after launch on macOS Tahoe 26.2. It gets stuck during initialization, often showing a debug assert failure. This started after updating to Tahoe 26.2. I've tried multiple versions via Creative Cloud, but only downgrading to v25.5 allows it to open and run stably. However, this prevents collaboration with team members on newer versions (e.g., 25.6+ or 26.x), as projects aren't compatible forward.
Debug Assert Details: When launching, I get this debug event (screenshot attached if posting):
Debug Assert failed! { expression (StringValue): "sClientNameInitialized" hash (Guid): "1f048d3f-8439-160a-0580-9cdb00000037" lastError (std::uint64_t): "3" sourceFile (StringValue): "/Users/dvaeng/main/dva/Drover/source/config/src/Client.cpp" sourceFunction (StringValue): "dvacore::UTF8String dvacore::config::GetClientName()" sourceLine (std::uint64_t): "186" threadID (std::uint64_t): "4622752" timestamp (StringValue): "2025-12-15T17:27:55.346964Z" // Note: Timestamp from crash, but issue persists in 2026 }
This seems related to dvacore configuration/licensing initialization (lastError: 3 suggests a config read failure).
Troubleshooting Steps Tried (All Unsuccessful Except Downgrade):
- Updated to the latest Premiere Pro patches and betas via Creative Cloud.
- Full uninstall/reinstall multiple times, including using Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to remove all remnants.
- Reset preferences (holding Option on launch; manually deleted ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Premiere Pro/ folders).
- Cleared caches and plugins (holding Shift + Option; disabled third-party plugins; removed all plugins entirely – still crashes).
- Launched with comprehensive resets (Shift + Option + Command).
- Ensured ample disk space, ran Disk Utility First Aid, and closed other apps.
None of these fixed the issue on versions newer than 25.5. Rolling back works, but it's not a viable long-term solution due to team collaboration needs.
Has anyone else encountered this on Tahoe 26.2? Is there a known bug or workaround? Appreciate any insights from Adobe support or community – logs/screenshots available on request.
