Premiere Pro editing lagging, stuck, freeze - impossible to edit
Hi there,
Having some issues in editing a project. Not sure why... Its freezing or lagging so its impossible for me to edit the timings and rhythms precisely... so I have beed editing "blind' hoping I cut in right place with music, and after exporting a file and seeing it it was almost in right place... very frustrating... PLEASE HELP 🙂
The timeline shows two things:
- render bar is yellow, when I try to render between mark in and out, it goes through the timeline, but stays yellow
- when I open the project, without yet doing anything it shows some exlamation marks saying
"A low-level exception occurred" (Device controller) IT SAYS THIS 5 TIMES IN ONE SECOND AFTER OPENING THE PROJECT.
I have tried few things to try to fix this:
- the footage and project was previously on external (not SSD) drive, yesterday I put all files on Macbook Pro SDD drive on computer, usually with other editing programs (Final Cut Pro X) things are smooth when editing straight from computer... but now this didnt help .. I took subscription with Premiere hoping that Premiere handles very well all kinds of footages...
- I am editing footage which is from Artgrid stock footage, I assume usually stock footage don't need to be converted before editing??? Below a sample of footage info:
bubbles_floating_to_surface_by_underwater_rocks_by_Jakob_Owens_Artgrid-HD_H264-HD.mp4
Type: MPEG Movie
File Size: 8.55 MB
Image Size: 1920 x 1080
Frame Rate: 29.97
Total Duration: 00:00:06:25
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0
Alpha: None
Video Codec Type: MP4/MOV H.264 4:2:0
- I created the sequence from the footage above, so it's supposed to keep the timeline settings as proper to the footage as possible?
- I have Macbook MacOS High Sierra, 15-inch, 2016,
--- Processor: 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7
--- Memory 16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3
--- Graphics: Radeon Pro 455 2048 MB, Intel HD Graphichs 530 1536 MB
- I'm using Premiere Pro 14.8.0 (I haven't updated yet, Im not sure if for updating I need to have a new MacOsX-system and then it all becomes very complicated with my existing programs)
- I tried multiple tricks which was mentioned in this link below:
https://www.premiumbeat.com/blog/premiere-pro-lagging-fixes/
DIDN'T HELP
- After I did something myself, not really knowing what I did, this helped but not sure how permanently, plus Im not sure if it will affect the footage quality.. as Im not exactly sure what it did... Plus Im not sure if it will start to lag again when I add new footage in the new project.
--- Project manager ---) I chose the final sequence ---) Consolidate and transcode (source: sequence, format:DNxHR/DNxHD MXF OP1a, preset:DNX HQ 1080p 29.97 IN OPTIONS: I CHECKED THESE: Exlude unused clips, include handles 30 frames, rename media files to match clip names, preserve alpha) .
AFTER WHEN I OPENED THE PROJECT WITH THIS NEW CONSOLIDATED FILE, ITS NOT GETTING AS STUCK AS BEFORE... BUT I WOULD APPRECIATE TO KNOW.. WHATS WRONG WITH THE ORIGINAL ONE I'M EDITING... IT WAS HARDEST EDITING EXPERIENCE SINCE MANY MANY YEARS, REMINDS ME OF THE TIMES 10 YEARS AGO WHEN EDITING PROGRAMS JUST COULDNT FOLLOW UP WITH HEAVY FOOTAGE...
Thank you in advance,
Kind regards,
Joja
