Question

Premiere Pro + eGPU (Gigabyte GamingBox)

Hey there,

as the performance of Premiere Pro is pretty slow on the new MacBooks (2017, 15") I was happy when I saw that there are external Graphic Cards and bought the Gigabyte GamingBox RX 580, as it is the same card as in the Blackmagic eGPU from Apple.

Sadly it didn't help with Premiere Pro, as Premiere Pro keeps on using the internal graphic cards. I've attached a screenshot of the cards while exporting a big project.

What can I do about it? Is there any chance to use the GamingBox properly or is Adobe not supporting it?

Thank you for your help,
Viktor

I don't believe the eGPU units are supported yet, Viktor. Hopefully, they will soon, though. Stay tuned.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,

I hope in the Premiere 2019 this will be the case? I use the Blackmagic eGPU but am a bit dissapointed with Adobe Premiere not fully supporting it.
