Premiere Pro Freezes on Startup

That subject line sure has been written a lot. I was happily working away on v.12.1.1 when all of the sudden, Premiere crashed. All attempts at restart have caused it to freeze on the splash screen. Here's what I've tried:

  1. Restart Premiere
  2. Restart Mac
  3. Follow Adobe's instructions at this page.
  4. Trashed workspaces
  5. Installed (even though I'm in the middle of a project) the brand new update, v.12.1.2
  6. Tried Options 1 and 2 on this page. I didn't try Options 3 onward because no one had any luck with them on this thread.

I'll add to this as I try more things, but, please, if anyone sees a solution, please share. I'll likely next figure out how to trash my preview files and preferences, but both of those actions are going to make me want to cry a little bit. So much time when into them.

7. This may have done it. I went to Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common and I deleted three folders: Media Cache, Media Cache Files and Peak Files. I could then relaunch Premiere. It rebuilt the cache files (I think that's what the process is called) and— no audio.

8. I've deleted render files for my sequence and will then check again.

same here. what i did in this situation:  assuming you are in premiere, but GUI is freezed, click on a top tab of application (file, edit, clip etc) - this brings back the panels in GUI. then go to the project panel and double click the sequence you want to modify. this worked for me. lol )))) i know it's funny...i still can't believe this worked for me

Just adding on. Deleting and re-rendering makes it play, but no audio. Turns out that was another, seemingly unrelated bug. Soloing a track in my timeline—any track and then unsoloing it fixed the audio issue.

And now, the next day, it won't start up again. Freezes on splash screen.

    9. Uninstall, restart computer, reinstall, start, it worked for a while and then froze up tight.

While waiting for it to relaunch—or not— I should note here that I am working on a four minute sequence with everything rendered.

—Ooh, this is a new one. It started to launch, an image came up on my 3rd monitor, but, none of the Premiere interface is showing on my computer monitors. If if hit my space bar the video and audio plays, but my menu bar still shows Chrome is the active application no matter what I've tabbed to. JKL do nothing.

    I'll be back.
