Premiere Pro hopelessly broken

Ever since the 2018 upgrade (and I use the term "upgrade" loosely), Premiere has been a DISASTER and my productivity has plummeted to where, if I was employed and not self-employed, I'd have been fired for getting NOTHING DONE!

Premiere runs slower than molasses in January. There are interminable waits for anything to happen. Sometimes Media Encoder just crashes.

Tech support is a joke. The last clown I spoke with knew less about Premiere than I did.

I'm going to buy one of the new Power iMacs next month and I can buy, through my wife's education account, the video/audio editing suite for less than $200.

I know there has been a lot of complaining about Final Cut X but, for heaven's sake, it CAN NOT be as bad as what Premiere has turned out to be.

I don't get it...well, I do...software companies are going to use the full power that new computers come out with and they throw those whose equipment is perfectly fine under the bus.

I'm going to give my iMac (late 2013 - fully loaded) to my daughter in law who does most of her work on the web.

At least Final Cut will work with the Mac.

My subscription days with Adobe are OVER!

I am running Premiere 2018 on a 2013 iMac without issue:

If you are having trouble, why don't you use the backup you made prior to upgrading your software to revert your system to the pervious version?

God Bless you all...I am happy that Premiere is working so well for you. I've got the same configuration as you.

I just recently wiped my hard drive and installed a brand new, fresh version of High Sierra. The only program I installed was Premiere. It's still a disaster.

The ONLY POSSIBLE solution is that there is a serious issue with my hardware. My iMac is four years old - that's about the limit of hardware these days, I suppose.

My iMac is still pulling strong and generating revenue daily. I still, however back the system drive up at least daily to verified backup drives - so that I always have a safety net.

I think Step 4 below would be the better solution.  Almost certainly less expensive.
