PREMIERE PRO INGEST ABSOLUTE GARBAGE

Trying to ingest 4k from a Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 4.6k. Codec Pro Res 422 HQ. UHD.

It took 23 HOURS to ingest one 8 MINUTE clip. Shameful.  This is not the first stupid problem I have had with Adobe products. I hope to GOD someone develops software that actually works and puts you out of business. You know why? Because you're shi**y software is putting ME out of business. And no, you can't blame my hardware (you're usual go-to excuse). The hardware is well within parameters to run the software properly.

Mac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)

4 GHz Intel Core i7

32 GB 1867 MHz DDR3

AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4096 MB

Mac OS 10.13.6

Premiere Pro version 13.0.3 (Build 9)

Media Encoder 13.0.2 (Build 39)

That is bizarre behavior. Something is very screwy in your rig, as that is not normal ingest behavior. If it were, there'd be a ton of posts about it.

As this is primarily a user to user forum, with troubleshooting the main object, I've got a few questions. All in the nature of figuring out what is causing this maddening result.

You say ingesting  ... what specific steps were set to be done during ingestion? I expect that you do mean ingesting and not simply importing.

What drive structure do you have, and how was the file uploaded from the camera card?

There's something to be fixed here.

I followed the exact steps outlined by Adobe:

New project in Premiere

Open media browser

Find files on HD to import

Made sure "Ingest" checked

Clicked on wrench to specify encoding profile

Choose destination for proxies (same HD as source material, same folder as source material - did try separate folder as source but had the exact same result)

RHT click on file(s) to import; Chose "Import"

Media Encoder opened up; had the correct encoder file and location shown; started encoding on its own; 23 hours later, an 8 minute file was encoded; file specs from camera listed above.

File was transferred first to HD prior to ingest. Camera card was removed from system and is not part of the ingest process (in others words I did not do the "Copy & Ingest" function)

The rig operates fine. Tech specs are above. This is the first time I have used ingest. I used a standard ingest profile (1280x720 Apple Pro res Proxy). As shown above, all software and OS is up to date.

Thanks for taking a look.

Man, that was screwed. Badly.

Out of curiosity,  which preset?
